After weeks of anticipation, Jason and Britt finally met, but their reunion turned out to be bitter than expected for General Hospital fans. Why? Here’s an explainer.

In the August 19 General Hospital episode, when Jason walked into Britt’s room, she demanded to know how he found her. Jason explained that he had spotted her at the Paris airport before tracking her to her current location. Although he initially considered respecting her wish to remain hidden, he got concerned that it might not be by choice.

Jason urged Britt to return home with him, but she said no. Britt went on to remind him of their painful history. Pointing out how he had left her for Carly, and how his supposed death while protecting her and her mother crushed her emotionally.

Jason tried to explain his survival, sharing that he had become an FBI informant to save Carly. This revelation only added to Britt’s anger. She lashed out, saying everything with Jason always circles back to Carly. She admitted she had grieved him — only to take it all back.

Furthermore, Britt revealed that her Huntington’s disease had gone into remission, so she had created a new life for herself, one she isn’t willing to give up. Jason insisted that the WSB had flagged the area as dangerous, but Britt pushed back, telling him she didn’t need saving. Finally, she ordered him to leave. Alone afterward, Britt made a mysterious call, saying, “We have a problem and need to put a stop to it immediately.”

The reunion didn’t sit well with many General Hospital fans. One fan vented on Facebook, “Not the reaction I was hoping for… No ‘OMG Jason you’re alive I thought you were dead!’ Maybe run into his arms with happiness.
