After some mentions of Sam McCall in the recent storyline of General Hospital, fans are already hopeful that Kelly Monaco will return to Port Charles despite the show killing off her character last year. As one of the most iconic characters in the show, fans seem to feel that bringing her back would be the best thing that the show could do right now.

As pointed out by many fans on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, there has been a lot of mention of Sam McCall lately in the past few episodes. Some fans took a hint from this and theorized that Kelly Monaco’s Sam may just have a chance of returning.

“Been seeing some theorizing that Sam is being mentioned a lot lately and there could mean a surprise return within the next year or so… I just wanna be clear that I ONLY want #KellyMonaco in the role. And I don’t see Frank hiring her back any time soon. #GH,” a user wrote on X.

It seems multiple fans are thinking the same thing. “The constant mentioning of Sam, almost every episode has to mean something, right? What it means though, I don’t know. But no other off-screen character is mentioned this much. Bring Kelly Monaco back #GH Bring her back,” another user wrote.

Another fan added how Monaco’s character would make everything better, saying, “It’s so crazy bc every single story that’s currently onscreen would be so much better with Sam’s involvement. Sam fits into all of these storylines & she could’ve been the umbrella piece. #GH really shot themselves in the foot by killing off Sam & they should rehire KeMo already.”

The show killed off the iconic character in a heart attack. So, bringing Sam back would require twisting and turning several storylines, but this is not impossible for daily soaps, as most have done this with many characters before. Sam debuted in 2003 and was among the most critically acclaimed characters in the show.

And given the fanfare surrounding Sam, viewers will most likely react well to her return. If General Hospital actually plans to make this happen, it will be a fascinating prospect.
