Barbara Corcoran is a name synonymous with Shark Tank now, having been around for all 15 seasons that have aired up to now, but some may not know that Corcoran was fired from the show even before she taped a single episode. However, she did not give up after she was informed of this sudden decision.
Here’s everything that fans need to know about how Corcoran fought for her seat on the show and won.
What’s the story behind Barbara Corcoran getting fired from Shark Tank?
Barbara Corcoran recently spoke to LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky on a podcast. She revealed how she was fired and then rehired on Shark Tank after a simple email.
Corcoran received a call from a woman asking her to be a part of a new show called Shark Tank before it started filming. She gladly said yes and even told her friends and family that she was going to Hollywood. But before Corcoran could even film one episode, the producers informed her that they were giving her seat to someone else. She had signed the contract, but the producers still changed their minds.
Corcoran decided to write an email to Shark Tank creator Mark Burnett. Fighting for her chance to be on the show, she showed her confidence to Burnett by writing, “I consider your rejection a lucky charm. Everything good happens to me after I get rejected.” She then ended the email by saying, “I expect to be on that plane on Tuesday. And I hope you let me compete for the seat.”
The email paid off, and Burnett responded, saying she would get a chance to compete for the seat. She ended up winning it back. Now, she has been on Shark Tank for 15 years and has made 130 deals on the show.
