Blindspot Season 6: Real Truth About Whether It Was Canceled

Following Blindspot‘s conclusion in 2020, fans have continued to wonder if NBC had canceled the hit crime drama. Five years after the series finale, many are eager to know if there is a chance of its return.

So, here’s everything we know.

Was Blindspot really canceled?

No, NBC had not canceled Blindspot. The show was, however, temporarily pulled from its airing schedule.

Shortly before the Blindspot Season 4 finale, NBC announced that the series would be removed from its weekly schedule for a while. This unexpected development raised concerns among fans who believed that NBC might be preparing to cancel the show. However, on May 10, 2019, the network confirmed that Blindspot would return for its fifth and final season. (Via Variety)

Speaking with TVLine, Blindspot creator Martin Gero admitted at the time that the last episode of Season 4 would have made for “a very bad series finale.” Thankfully, the show received one more season, allowing the story to wrap up more neatly.

Season 5 of Blindspot premiered on May 7, 2020, and consisted of 11 episodes, which was half the count of the previous seasons.

Could Blindspot Season 6 happen?

It is unlikely that Blindspot will return for Season 6.

NBC may have already had doubts about the show, which led to it being temporarily pulled after Season 4. However, the network ultimately chose to renew it for one last season. Since NBC officially stated that the fifth season would be the final one, there is little to no chance of a revival five years later. Additionally, no news has emerged about any other network picking up the series for a continuation.
