The human remains discovered close to Taylor Swift‘s Rhode Island home have now been “positively identified,” per the South Kingstown Police Department. About a month ago, the police found the remains in the affluent Watch Hill neighborhood, located in the town of Westerly, Rhode Island, not far from Swift’s sprawling mansion.
Human remains near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion identified, claims report
The authorities report that the human remains uncovered in Watch Hill belonged to Eric Wein, a 31-year-old man from Massachusetts. Wein had been reportedly missing since April 18. According to the police, Wein’s vehicle was in South Kingstown on April 10, over a week before he was officially declared missing.
In a news release on June 13, the officials noted that they hadn’t found any indication of foul play and that they had concluded the investigation. They also extended a message of condolences to people who were close to Wein.
“After working closely with the Mansfield Police Department and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners, the South Kingstown Police Department has formally concluded its investigation,” the statement read. “No foul play is suspected. We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” it further stated.
As we previously reported, the Taylor Swift property, often referred to as Holiday House or High Watch, is located not far from where the remains were found on the morning of May 14. The Police received a call about the grim finding around 9:30 a.m. local time.
Earlier, Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella ruled out the prospects of the involvement of a serial killer while speaking to Fox News Digital. “As far as I’m concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer [or] any New England murderer,” he said. The clarification likely came as authorities had found 13 bodies in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts since March this year.
