As a result, some fans, unable to contain their excitement for iOS 26’s release, are wondering how they can access the new update on their iPhones and explore all the revamped features it has to offer.
Wondering how to get the iOS 26 update on your iPhone? Here’s how you can get the iOS 26 beta update on your iPhone.
List of steps to get iOS 26 on your iPhone
There are three options to choose from when installing the iOS 26 beta on your iPhone. Here’s how you can do it:
Option 1: Installing the developer beta in Software Update
To do this, you need to be a registered developer part of the Apple Developer Program, from iOS 16.4 or iPad OS 16.4 and later. This method will work irrespective of whether you have a free Apple Developer membership or not.
- Open “Settings,” then go to General>Software Update>Beta Updates on your device.
- If the Apple account listed isn’t mentioned as being part of the developer program, simply tap it, remove the account listed, and type in the name of the account that is part of the developer program.
- Select either “iOS 26 developer beta” or “iPad OS 26 Developer Beta” depending on the device you are using.
- Go back to the Software Update screen.
- Tap “Update Now” and install the beta when it becomes available.
Option 2: Installing the developer beta with IPSW (Mac Only)
Use this method if an over-the-air installation fails or if your device does not have sufficient space for installation.
- Download the correct iOS 26 or iPad OS 26 restore image from the website developer.apple.com/download.
- Connect your device to a Mac using a lightning cable or USB-C.
- Find and select your iPhone or iPad via Finder.
- Go to the “General” tab. Then click on “Check for Update,” and select the .ipsw file.
- Now wait until MacOs installs the firmware update. Your device will then reboot upon completion of the installation process.
Option 3: Installing iOS 26 public beta
Public betas for iOS 26 are currently unavailable but are expected to be released in mid-July.
