The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 viewers have speculated that Luke Bankole might die in the finale. So far, the husband of June Osborn has revealed his major plans to attack Gilead, a decision that can be risky for his fate. Moreover, actor O-T Fagbenle, who plays Luke in the show, has also hinted at his tragic end during a recent interview.
Does Luke die in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6?
Luke might not survive The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 finale, as per statements from the actor. As the last two seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale unfolded, it became increasingly clear that Canada is no longer safe for Luke or June.
The former Handmaid’s husband previously got arrested for killing a truck driver who tried to run June over. So, with Canada’s door closing and Gilead being more vulnerable than ever, it might make sense to see Luke attacking the corrupt state and facing a violent fate.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor O-T Fagbenle discussed Luke’s journey in the show. The 44-year-old actor said, “Between Seasons five and six, Luke has been to jail and he realizes that the one port of safety he thought he did have, which was in Canada, is no longer there.”
Fagbenle explained that Luke’s safety net dissolving essentially means that he is ready to take on any challenge. The actor noted, “So if there’s no safety anywhere, then he might as well go on a mission that very well will lead to his death, and at least go out dying trying to save his child.”
Additionally, Fagbenle shared that he prepared for the season finale thinking that Luke is “ready to die.” But before his death, the character wants to do the right thing for his daughter, who is still in Gilead.
