Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s reaction to Taylor Swift‘s presence on ESPN’s Manningcast has stirred conversations online. Along with NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning, Belichick, known for his serious coaching style, also presented his take on the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints game. However, he seemed displeased with the cameras frequently highlighting Swift, who was cheering her boyfriend Travis Kelce from her suite.
Bell Belichick’s reaction on Manningcast explained
On Monday, October 7, the Kansas City Chiefs went against New Orleans, with the former coming out victorious. As Peyton, Eli, and Belichick were concentrating on the Chiefs game, they didn’t respond very positively when the cameras shifted to Swift.
Swift, who usually comes to support her boyfriend Kelce, receives immense attention during NFL games due to her stardom and their high-profile relationship. However, when the camera focused on Swift, sitting in her suite and cheering for her beau, her on-screen presence elicited a weird response from Belichick. Initially, there was slight awkwardness in the room when the cameras cut to Swift, but Belichick broke the silence with his startling remark. He smirkingly said, “Big first half for Kelce. Too big, too big.”
Interestingly, an athletic survey found that 72.5% of the players polled believe that Swift’s presence in NFL games is good, as it brings more attention to the sport. However, many think the contrary on this matter.
Previously, an NFL promotional video was released featuring Swift’s brief appearance, which many fans didn’t like and thought was distracting. They were upset over the 30-second clip, as they believed it should have spotlighted NFL players rather than Swift. Many also criticized the league for prioritizing a celebrity’s stardom over sport.
Despite the criticism, Swift expressed her happiness about the Kansas City Chiefs winning the latest game in an Instagram video.
