The Boys Season 4 Episode 4 premiered on Thursday, June 20, and fans want to know how Butcher killed Ezekiel. Even though he faces his own apparently imminent death, Butches convinces the rest of The Boys to let him be part of their operation. This brings him face-to-face with Ezekiel, a Supe with the powers of density alteration, superhuman hearing, and elasticity. Although Butcher is clearly weaker between the two, he still manages to kill the Supe.
Here’s everything you need to know about what happened to Ezekiel.
How did Butcher explode Ezekiel in The Boys Season 4?
As of Season 4 Episode 4, the series hasn’t made explicitly clear how Butcher succeeds in killing a Supe like Ezekiel.
However, if we assess the things that happened to Butch until now, we can certainly make some speculations. In Season 4, we see a worm-like thing slithering under Butcher’s skin. It becomes active whenever Butcher is under heavy physical and mental stress. It’s probably safe to speculate that the creature’s origin is somehow linked to Butcher’s rampant use of Compound V. And now, because of his recent use of the drug, the worm has become active again.
In Episode 4, Butcher faces off against Ezekiel in Firecracker’s trailer and is nearly killed by the male Supe. Ezekiel continues to choke Butcher with his extended arm until Butcher blacks out. When he wakes up, blood and Ezekiel’s body parts are everywhere, indicating that the Supe somehow exploded.
It’s obvious that Butcher is responsible for what happened, although he has no recollection of it. We theorize that it’s somehow linked to the worm, which is also likely making him hallucinate about Becca. It seems that whenever he becomes extremely distressed and faces some serious danger, the creature activates and provides him with a surge of power. It is not yet clear what the true nature of the creature is and what impact it will have on Butcher and the story as a whole.
