As of April 2024, the Roku Channel hasn’t renewed The Spiderwick Chronicles for Season 2. As the first season just premiered, it’s safe to assume that the network is waiting to see how the audience responds to the inaugural season before deciding the show’s fate. However, series creator Aron Eli Coleite seems to have some ideas he wishes to explore in the prospective Season 2.
In an interview with CoveredGeekly, Coleite acknowledged that the series was ultimately Jared’s story before saying that if he got the opportunity, he would delve more into Simon and Mallory as characters. Coleite also hopes to go back in time and shed life on the exploits of Arthur Spiderwick, the author of Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You, and how he learned about the existence of magic.
DiTerlizzi and Black’s original book series has five entries: The Field Guide (2003), The Seeing Stone (2003), Lucinda’s Secret (2003), The Ironwood Tree (2004), and The Wrath of Mulgarath (2004). There are also multiple companion books and a second series comprising three entries. So, if the series garners popularity, it can go on for a very long time.
