Known for his unique vision and style, Quentin Tarantino is one of the most celebrated filmmakers of today. From Reservoir Dogs (1992) to Pulp Fiction (1994) to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) — he has carved an indelible mark on the history of cinema. Since 2014, Tarantino has been saying that he will stop directing films after his tenth project. For a while, that project was The Movie Critic. However, there seem to be new developments on the matter.

Is there The Movie Critic release date?
There is no The Movie Critic release date as Tarantino has reportedly abandoned the project as his tenth and final film.
In April 2024, several outlets reported that Tarantino would not be going forward with The Movie Critic. It appears he is still determined to end his career as a film director with his tenth film, but it will not be something else. The popular filmmaker reportedly rewrote the script, and that inevitably pushed back production. Now, it seems that Tarantino has decided to move on to a completely different project.
Brad Pitt, who previously worked with Tarantino on Inglourious Basterds (2009) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was slated to star in The Movie Critic alongside other past collaborators of Tarantino. At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino had this to say about the film, “I can’t tell you guys [anything] until you see the movie. I’m tempted to do some of the character’s monologues right now, but I’m not going to. Maybe if there were less video cameras. You just have to wait and see.”
Why The Movie Critic happening
The Movie Critic isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, Tarantino has reportedly decided not to make the film.
