Call of the Night: Is the Manga Finished? Is the Anime Over?

Fans just getting into Call of the Night might be curious to know if the manga is finished and if the anime is over as well. The romantic comedy series might be a familiar staple to fans of the genre. But are the anime and manga finished? Here is a guide on the Call of the Night manga and anime.

Is the Call of the Night manga finished?

The Call of the Night manga finished serialization in January 2024.

Call of the Night is a shonen series by Kotoyama. Shogakukan serialized the manga in their Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from August 2019 until January 2024. For the English and North American releases, the publishing is handled by Viz Media.

There are a total of 20 volumes and all volumes are now available in Japanese. The English version of Volume 16 won’t be available until June 2024. However, it’s currently available to pre-order on Viz Media’s website.

Is the Call of the Night anime over or will there be new episodes?

Call of the Night will get more episodes. The announcement for Season 2 came last March 2024 during the Fuji TV Anime Lineup Press Conference 2024 event. Check out the teaser video for the second season below:

Liden Films produced the first season of the anime, which ran for 13 episodes and aired from July 2022 to September 2022. Tetsuya Miyanishi (Sk8 the Infinity, Hyperdimension Neptunia) served as the chief director, while Tomoyuki Itamura (The Case Study of Vanitas, Hanamonogatari) was the director. Additionally, Michiko Yokote (Cowboy Bebop, Masamune-kun’s Revenge) handled the series composition and script.

Call of the Night is streaming on HIDIVE. The official synopsis reads:

“Wracked by insomnia and wanderlust, Ko Yamori is driven onto the moonlit streets every night in an aimless search for something he can’t seem to name. His nightly ritual is marked by purposeless introspection — until he meets Nazuna, who might just be a vampire! Ko’s new companion could offer him dark gifts and a vampire’s immortality. But there are conditions that must be met before Ko can sink his teeth into vampirism, and he’ll have to discover just how far he’s willing to go to satisfy his desires before he can heed the Call of the Night!”
