Who is Usami in Jujutsu Kaisen?
As of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 253, Usami remains an unknown person in the story. What we know so far is that Usami is a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer, as mentioned by Kusakabe.
This is the first time Usami has been mentioned in the story. When the Jujutsu High mentors were talking about who the strongest grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer is, Gojo, Nanami, and Mei Mei mentioned Kusakabe. However, Kusakabe said the strongest grade 1 sorcerer would be someone other than him or Usami.
Of course, fans were quick to come up with theories to try to figure out who Usami is. One of the theories circulating on social media is that Usami is Kusakabe’s younger sister.
In the subreddit r/Jujutsufolk, user Lonelyvoid thinks that Usami is Kusakabe’s younger sister and they were previously recognized as the strongest duo. As we know, Kusakabe is highly skilled in defense. On the other hand, Usami would be the same but for the offense. Lonelyvoid describes the hypothetical duo as “sword and shield.”
For those who forgot, Principal Yaga has a cursed corpse that contains Kusakabe’s nephew’s soul information. So Lonelyvoid continues their theory by saying Takeru was killed in a mission, which greatly affected Kusakabe’s sister. Going back to Chapter 253, it appears Kusakabe is protecting his sister because he doesn’t name another person as the strongest grade 1 sorcerer but focuses on saying it’s not them.
Meanwhile, other fans are saying Usami might be Mei Mei’s real name. Another theory is it’s a jujutsu sorcerer who is already dead.
For now, fans will have to wait and see when Gege Akutami will bring up this mystery character again.
