Fans of the Fallout video game franchise are wondering if the upcoming television adaptation on Amazon Prime Video is a “Fallout 4” sequel. Here is all you need to know.
Is the Fallout TV series following on from Fallout 4?
The Fallout TV series will reportedly act as a Fallout 5. It will be a sequel of sorts to Fallout 4, according to series co-creator Jonathan Nolan.
In the March 1 issue of Total Film Magazine, Jonathan Nolan was asked about the upcoming television adaptation. He revealed that the upcoming series will basically be “Fallout 5.” Nolan explained that it will have its own canonical placement within the wider Fallout universe:
“Each of the [Fallout] games is a discrete story – different city, distinct protagonist – within the same mythology. Our series sits in relation to the games as the games sit in relation to each other. It’s almost like we’re Fallout 5. I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but it’s just a non-interactive version of it, right?”
Also in the Total Film magazine interview, Jonathan Nolan compared working on the Fallout series to working on his brother Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed movies “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”
“Fallout” is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, 2024. It is co-created by Jonathan Nolan, Geneva Roberston-Dworet, Graham Wagner, and Lisa Joy. It stars Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins in the lead roles of Lucy and The Ghoul, respectively.
Nolan, Dworet, Wagner, and Joy also serve as executive producers of the series alongside Todd Howard, James Altman, and Athena Wickham.
The series’ cast also includes Kyle MacLachlan, Mike Doyle, Johnny Pemberton, Dale Dickey, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Chris Parnell, and Zach Cherry.
