Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam is an Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller starring Mohanlal and Meena. The plot revolves around Georgekutty, a cable operator who takes on a police chief to protect his family. The film earned an estimated ₹72 crore at the box office against its ₹3.5–5 crore budget. Its success led to the development of adaptations in other languages in India, including one in Hindi, starring Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran. A sequel, Drishyam 2, came out in 2021. And now, there are exciting reports about international adaptations of the film, including an English version.

Is there a Drishyam English Remake release date?
The Drishyam English Remake’s release date could arrive by 2025 at the earliest.
In late February 2024, Panorama Studios, a production company from India, and Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films from the US jointly announced that they would develop an English version of the 2013 hit crime thriller film.
Panorama now has the international remake rights to Drishyam 1 & Drishyam 2 and intends to make multiple international remakes, including Korean and Spanish ones. Panorama also produced the Hindi version of Drishyam, which came out in 2015 and made an estimated ₹147 crore against a ₹38 crore budget.
On the international stage, Drishyam has already found success in its Sri Lankan and Chinese renditions, though Panorama was not attached to those projects. No information is available yet on the cast and crew. It’s only March now, so there is a real possibility for the production to begin sometime later in 2024. If that happens, the Drishyam English Remake can come out in 2025 at the earliest.
