Queer Eye: Why Did Bobby Berk Really Leave the Show?

Fans of Queer Eye are curious why Bobby Berk really left the show and are also wondering if the Fab Five member will ever return to the series. Here is everything you need to know.

Why did Bobby Berk really leave Queer Eye?

Bobby Berk left Queer Eye primarily due to contractual matters. Berk believed the show would not come back if he didn’t and he made peace with that decision. He had made plans as a result and refused to change those plans when offered the chance to come back.

In a recent Vanity Fair article that was published on January 2024, Bobby Berk stated that he and the rest of the Fab Five members: Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, and Jonathan Van Ness had signed a seven-cycle contract that lasted up to September 2022.

Berk explained that he and the rest of the cast believed that the eighth season would be the last. Then Netflix decided to renew the show for a ninth season and offered him and the others a new contract with the option of four cycles. Berk and the others declined to sign.

Berk then claimed in the interview that he strongly believed the show would not come back if they all did not and that he had accepted his decision to not come back.

However, due to reasons that Berk did not elaborate on, the other cast members agreed to come back while Berk remained the only one who decided not to return.

Berk stated he was initially upset when he found out about the other’s decisions as well as Netflix’s choice to replace him with Jeremiah Brent. However, he later admitted that he could not be mad as it was his choice to not return and later stressed that he would have had to halt multiple other future projects he was working on if he were to return.

Will Bobby ever return to Queer Eye?

It is unknown if Bobby Berk will ever return to Queer Eye in the future. However, what is known is that he will not return anytime soon.
