Suits LA: Is It a Reboot, Sequel or Spinoff of The Original Show?

With Suits L.A. being officially announced, people wish to find out if it is a reboot, sequel, or spinoff of the original. So, here’s all you need to know about Suits L.A.’s setting and connection to the original New York-based show.

Is Suits LA a reboot of the original series?

Suits L.A. is not a reboot of the original series.

Aaron Korsh, who created and wrote the first Suits, has come up with Suits L.A. It is set in the same universe and will feature a new cast of characters. We may or may not see the original characters return in it. But we can be sure that there will be references to the previous show.

Is Suits LA a prequel, sequel, or spinoff of the original show?

Suits L.A. is a spinoff of the original Suits series.

While the original series was set in NY, Suits L.A. will be set in Los Angeles, as the title suggests. It isn’t a sequel or prequel, but an extension of the previous series. That’s similar to how CSI’s extensions CSI: NY and CSI: Miami, and NCIS’s spinoffs such as NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Sydney were launched.

Furthermore, Suits L.A. might have ties to the OG Suits as it would follow Ted Black (Stephen Amell), originally a Federal Prosecutor in New York in the show. He would revamp himself into a powerful lawyer in LA, starting a new firm with his old buddy, Stuart Lane.

Being based out of New York, Black could have connections with the likes of Harvey Spector, Mike Ross, or other characters from the last show.

Besides creator Korsh, Suits L.A. involves David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein as executive producers. Meanwhile, Victoria Mahoney is set to direct and executive produce the pilot.
