A new image of what appears to be Wolverine‘s mask from Deadpool 3 has “leaked” online and fans are wondering if it’s the real deal or if it’s just an AI-generated picture. Here is all you need to know.
Is the leaked Deadpool 3 Wolverine Mask real or AI-generated?
The “leaked” Deadpool 3 Wolverine mask is almost certainly AI-generated and thus fake.
Twitter user @zerowontmiss put up a tweet on what he believed was the real Wolverine mask from Marvel’s upcoming Deadpool 3 or Deadpool & Wolverine, from Marvel’s recent expo. However, he eventually learned that the image was AI-generated and thus fake from readers who added context for him.
The very next day after he learned the mask was fake, Zero put up another tweet explaining how he could tell the Wolverine mask image was fake. He explained several inconsistencies in the image such as the forearm of the guy in the gray shirt being odd and also pointed out how the guy with the backpack was in the photo frame twice.
Despite the reveal that it was AI-generated, the UK official account of Marvel Legends posted the Wolverine mask image on Twitter believing it was official.
The shocking reveal that the image is AI has baffled fans. What is even more strange is how the image reportedly looks so real that it is very hard to tell if it is AI-generated until one looks at it very carefully on a microscopic level and even then it is difficult to tell whether the image is AI or not.
The dangers of AI are becoming more and more prominent, especially now that we have reached the advanced technological stage where images and videos generated are becoming more and more realistic. As such it has been and will be very difficult for a lot of people to point out flaws in an AI-generated image.
While there’s a chance that this image looks similar to the real mask used in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, fans will have to wait for future trailers, or even the movie itself, to see Hugh Jackman’s new look.
