As of January 2024, True Detective hasn’t been renewed for the fifth season. This is expected as the intermediate periods have lasted years between some of the recent seasons of the anthology series. For instance, there was a four-year gap between seasons 2 and 3 and about a five-year gap between seasons 3 and 4. If season 5 does happen, it will likely be a while before it comes out.
