Superman’s Best Character Is Getting Their Own DC TV Show, First Details Here

DC Studios has announced a new TV series focusing on one of the best characters in the Superman mythos. The upcoming show was announced at DC and Warner Bros. Animation’s panel at this year’s Annecy International Film Festival.

What Superman character is getting their own TV show?

DC Studios has announced Krypto, an animated series putting the spotlight on Superman’s super-powered dog. The series comes from C.H. Greenblatt, who previously created Chowder, Jellystone, and wrote episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Krypto’s synopsis reads, “When he’s not hanging out with Superman or Supergirl, Krypto tags along with a gang of misfit criminal wannabes who live down the block, and they soon discover he’s a ball of destructive, lovable energy worse than any of them! As he follows them into misadventures and poorly laid plans, Krypto’s pure nature slowly ends up redeeming them, whether they want it or not.”

The Krypto TV series won’t be set in the DC Universe. The announcement follows the character’s live-action debut in 2025’s Superman, which significantly increased Krypto’s popularity. Krypto will also be seen in this summer’s Supergirl, as it was revealed in James Gunn’s movie that Kara is the rightful owner of the powerful pup. The dog plays a major role in Kara Zor-El’s film, which is based on Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

This isn’t the first time that DC has focused on Krypto following his Superman debut. After the movie’s release, DC and WB Animation released a series of shorts titled Krypto Saves the Day! That series is also supposed to get a second season, called Krypto & Supergirl: Capes for Hire.

Besides Krypto, DC Studios has also announced other TV shows focused on the Joker and Absolute Batman. No release date has been announced for Krypto.
