Now, she plays the infamous Greek mythology human female monster, Medusa in Disney Plus’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Is Medusa bad and an evil villain in Percy Jackson and the Olympians?

While Medusa is a victim in the beginning, she is portrayed as a villain in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

As Percy Jackson and his friends left for his quest to rescue his mom and find Zeus’ lightning bolt, he ended up at Aunty Em’s, aka Medusa’s lair. She lures the trio into having lunch with her, but they soon realize that all the stone statues they saw used to be living people and creatures that have now been turned into statues by Medusa.

Medusa revealed how Athena, the goddess of wisdom punished her. She was cursed to have snakes instead of hair and dead eyes that turn those who look into them into stones. This eventually turned her into a villain who was about to turn Percy and her friends into stone statues before they decapitated her.

While she is portrayed as an evil character, Percy Jackson and the Olympians also hints that she wasn’t always bad. Her backstory dives into the original Greek mythology where she was a worshipper of Athena who took a vow of celibacy. But when the sea god Poseidon made her enter into a relationship, Athena punished her with a curse that turned her into an antagonist.
