Is there a The Winchesters Season 2 release date?
There is no The Winchesters Season 2 release date as the show was canceled after the first season.
In May 2023, the CW announced that they would not be picking up The Winchesters for its sophomore season. The news was mostly expected as the network, which came under the ownership of Nexstar Media Group in 2022, had decided to concentrate its resources on unscripted and lower-cost scripted programming for cost-effective reasons. The Winchesters was not one of the high-performing shows on the CW, despite having an in-built audience base due to Supernatural. Warner Bros. Television, one of the production companies behind the series, had already begun shopping for a new network by then.
However, by June 2023, the show was officially scrapped, as the efforts to find a new home for it didn’t produce any result. Executive producer Jensen Ackles, who also portrays Dean Winchester in the Supernatural universe, took to Twitter (now known as X) to confirm the news). He thanked the fans, cast, and crew and cited the network shift and the 2023 writers’ strike as the reasons for the show’s cancellation.
“To all of you who watched, followed, and supported this story, THANK YOU,” the actor posted. “And to all those who brought this show to life…I couldn’t be more proud of what we all did together. But as they say…timing is everything. With a massive Network shift coupled with an industry strike…welp…that’s some unfortunate timing. Sleep well dear @WinchestersOnCW …until we meet again. Somewhere down the road.”
