The Kung Fu Panda 4 trailer recently dropped and it contained a lot of reveals such as new plot points and new characters, but it most importantly confirmed that the original Kung Fu Panda villain Tai Lung will return and have a significant role. As such, fans of the franchise are curious about how Tai Lung came back and also who the main bad guy of the film is. Here are both questions answered.
How is Tai Lung back in Kung Fu Panda 4?
Tai Lung comes back from the dead in Kung Fu Panda 4 after being released from the Spirit Realm by The Chameleon.
As seen in the trailer, The Chameleon opens a portal to another realm, and from it, Tai Lung exits. While not much is known about the realm from which Tai Lung came, it does bear a resemblance to the look of the Spirit Realm. Moreover, the Chameleon is seen holding the Staff of Wisdom, which was established in the previous two films to have some sort of connection to Chi energy and the Spirit Realm as a whole.
While Tai Lung’s fate at the end of Kung Fu Panda was not clear, the second and third films revealed that the Wuxi fingerhold technique which Po used on Tai Lung at the end of the first film, sends people to the Spirit Realm rather than killing them. Thus, Tai Lung was not erased from existence but was merely sent to the Spirit Realm, from which he is shown returning in Kung Fu Panda 4.
Tai Lung’s role in the film is largely unknown, but it can be presumed that his powers and abilities will be of importance to The Chameleon and he may also try to seek revenge against Po and Master Shifu for his defeat in the first film.
Who is the main villain in Kung Fu Panda 4?
The main villain of Kung Fu Panda 4 is a new threat known as The Chameleon.
The Chameleon is shown in the trailer to possess not only impressive martial arts skills but also the ability to shapeshift into any being. This was shown when she shapeshifted into both Tai Lung and Po.
