Is Ben Affleck returning for The Accountant 2?
Yes, Ben Affleck is reportedly returning for The Accountant 2.
Back in 2019, Ben Affleck spoke with Collider and revealed his interest in returning for The Accountant sequel. He even stated that the film could be turned into a series. But later in 2021, the original film’s director Gavin O’Connor confirmed that the sequel will indeed remain a film.
Speaking on CinemaBlend’s ReelBlend podcast, the director also confirmed that both Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal will reprise their roles in the upcoming film. But since then, not a lot has been heard about the film. However, Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently confirmed via his Paetron that The Accountant 2 is now a go, and Amazon has reached a deal to produce the film.
Who is directing The Accountant 2?
Gavin O’Connor is reportedly returning to direct The Accountant 2.
In 2021, he revealed on CinemaBlend’s ReelBlend podcast that he had already closed a deal for the film. He said:
“We literally just closed that deal. We’re doing The Accountant again…I’ve always wanted to do three because what, the second one’s going to be more with — we’re going to integrate his brother into the story.”
He continued:
“So there’ll be more screen time for [Jon] Bernthal in the second one. And then the third movie’s going to be, I call it, ‘Rain Man on steroids.’ The third movie is going to be the two brothers, this odd couple. The third one is going be a buddy picture.”
To follow his quote, Daniel Richtman also confirmed his return. But looking back at what Gavin O’Connor said, we might be getting a third film after the sequel as well.
