Disney’s Wish is heading out in the theaters during the Thanksgiving Holiday period and fans are wondering how much money it is going to make. Will it be able to restore Disney Animation’s glorious box office days? Here’s all you need to know about its box office projections.
How Much Money is Disney’s Wish predicted to make?
Wish is reportedly set for a $50 million+ domestic opening weekend during the Thanksgiving period.
As per Deadline, Wish is tracking to make around $50 million in its first 5 days after opening on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. This aligns with Box Office Pro’s long-range predictor, which suspected it to open somewhere between $45-65 million domestically. As for its domestic total, it is predicted to end up between $185 million and $289 million at the domestic box office.
If the film manages to hit its projections, then it will mark the biggest opening for an original Disney animated movie since Coco’s $72.9 million. But will that be enough to make it a success story?
Will Wish flop or succeed at the box office?
With a reported budget of $200 million, Wish’s box office opening may not enable it to succeed. However, a lot will depend upon its second-weekend drop and overseas numbers.
As per The Wrap, Wish also has a humongous $200 million production budget. While its marketing budget isn’t known, it’s easy to predict that the film needs to make more than 450-$500 million worldwide (if not more) to break even. But with the aforementioned opening, it will need to perform extremely well in the coming weeks.
It’s likely that the movie may not make its money back because it isn’t tracking well on Rotten Tomatoes either. However, stranger things have happened in the past. So, let’s see how the audience reacts to the film.
