The Marvels raises a big question amongst the fans about Captain Marvel’s sexual orientation. Is she gay, bisexual, or straight? Are Carol and Valkyrie a thing? Here’s all you need to know.
What is Captain Marvel’s Sexual orientation in MCU?
While Captain Marvel is straight in the comics, she is likely bisexual in the MCU.
The Marvels revealed that, similar to the comics, Carol Danvers had to marry Prince Yan of Aladna to help him take the throne. She mentioned that it was just a marriage of convenience. It was a diplomatic act to help her friend.
Even though she has been with the likes of Rhodey, Wonder Man, and multiple others in the comics, we haven’t seen her with any male partners in the MCU apart from her arrangement with Prince Yan.
However, The Marvels did hint at a potential female partner. To relocate the Skrulls from Tarnax, Carol called in King Valkyrie, referring to her as a “friend.” But their conversation teased a bit of history between them after Avengers: Endgame, and it ended with Valkyrie kissing her on the cheek. So, it’s possible that Carol Danvers is gay or bisexual in the MCU.
Are Captain Marvel and Valkyrie dating each other?
It is likely that Carol Danvers and Valkyrie were romantically involved for a short while between the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Marvels.
During 2019’s Comic-Con panel of Thor: Love and Thunder, Tessa Thompson mentioned that King Valkyrie would be looking for a queen in Thor 4. Following that, Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello tweeted that Carol and Valkyrie would become partners.
But that subplot was reportedly deleted from Thor 4 to put more focus on Thor and the Mighty Thor. However, Valkyrie kissing Carol’s cheek while leaving does hint that they were romantically involved at some point in time between Endgame and The Marvels.
After The Marvels, it’ll be interesting to see if they will continue their relationship, and if Carol will become the “Queen of New Asgard” after already being the “Princess of Aladna.”
