Loki season 2 episode 5 ending explained

Is Loki controlling his time slipping at the end of Loki Season 2 Episode 5?

Loki seems to be in control of his time slipping, but it’s also possible that someone else is pulling the strings.

Throughout episode 5, we see Loki time slipping into multiple different branches that show what the lives of all his friends would have been like if they weren’t brought to the TVA. Ultimately, OB helps him understand that he was time slipping into the realities where he actually needed to be.

Then, towards the end, when all realities begin to spaghettify (turn into probability threads), Loki finally gets the hang of his time slipping. He says, “I can rewrite the story,” and possibly turns into the “God of Stories” version of himself from the comics, which has also been teased by the posters.

To prevent the lives of his friend and the entire multiverse, he time slips back into the past version of the TVA before Episode 4’s explosion melted down the Temporal Loom.

Now, everyone is set to be back, including Victor Timely. As per the trailers, Loki will be the one to fix the Temporal Loom now. So, that’s what we’d see in the finale.

But there’s also a possibility of someone else pulling the strings here. After all, Loki told OB that it isn’t about where, when, or why; it’s about “Who.” So, that could either be referring to “Who will fix the Temporal Loom?” or “Who is pulling the strings?”

If it is the former, then we can be sure that Loki himself will be the one to fix the Temporal Loom, as shown in the trailers. But if it is the latter, then another version of He “Who” Remains could be pulling the strings behind the scenes.

This other version could be another Kang variant. However, there’s also the potential for King Loki’s grand reveal in Season 2, a variant that was teased in Season 1’s trailers but never featured in the show. A King Loki variant could be pulling the strings from behind the scenes, trying to get the TVA remade using the Loki variant we all know and love. Hence, he could be the new He Who Remains.
