Recent rumors and reports about the Marvel Cinematic Universe reset have been running rampant. Many fans want clarity on whether the MCU will be rebooted after Avengers: Secret Wars. Here’s all you need to know about MCU’s way forward after Phase 6.
Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe going to be reset and rebooted?
According to reports, the MCU will get a semi-reboot similar to the DCU.
Marvel will reportedly keep what has worked for them and leave behind what hasn’t. This confirmation came from Joanna Robinson, who wrote the new book “MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios.” Speaking on The Watch podcast, she claimed to have got a quote from Kevin Feige about Marvel’s eventual reset. She said:
“We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying that, like, Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything… That’s not to use a Loki-ism. [They’ll] prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”
She further explained how Feige learned the dynamics of entering into the TV space with new characters and how certain superheroes must be rebooted after a while. Hence, we’d likely be seeing a reboot after 2027 or 2028.
Will Loki season 2 reset the MCU?
No, Loki Season 2 will not reset the MCU, but it will surely form a basis for that to happen after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Loki Season 2 and Deadpool 3 will lead us into projects like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. The latter is said to be the massive culmination of MCU that will bring every minor or major Marvel character back from the past.
Its ending could set up a new universe that pulls in characters like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and others who have worked till now while bringing back newer variants of Iron Man, Captain America, and Wolverine into the mix to continue with a new storyline.
