However, the likely reason is the mixed reviews garnered by the second season, which led to the producers reconsidering and eventually canceling the making of a third season.
Moreover, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who starred as Ganesh Gaitonde in the first two seasons, revealed in an interview with SpotBoyE that the first two seasons already adapted the full story of Vikram Chanda’s 2006 Sacred Games novel and that there was nothing left to put in the third season.
Furthermore, in an interview with Mashable India, Anurag Kashyap, who directed the first two seasons revealed that the controversy surrounding Tandav on Amazon Prime Video, especially around actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub contributed to a big fear felt by OTT platforms and claimed that this fear likely led to Sacred Games Season 3 plans being scrapped.
