Will Daisy Ridley return as Rey in Star Wars?
Yes, Daisy Ridley will return as Rey in her own solo Star Wars movie following The Rise of Skywalker.
The Rey Star Wars movie was announced during Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023. It is set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Rumored to be titled “Star Wars: New Jedi Order,” its story will take place over a decade after Rey chose to be called Skywalker.
Since a time jump is involved, we may or may not see the trinity of Poe, Rey, and Fin get united in the film. It was scheduled to arrive in December 2025. However, after Disney’s recent delays, it is believed to have been pushed to the May 22, 2026 release slot.
Will Rey be in Star Wars: Episode X?
Rey is expected to appear in Star Wars: Episode X, though it’s possible that she won’t be a main character.
It’s possible that her new movie won’t technically be “Episode X,” potentially leaving room for a new trilogy later down the line.
Not a lot of details are known about the film at the moment of writing. But in it, we will follow Rey building her Jedi Order after growing even stronger with the Force. Whether the film introduces a new antagonist to take her on or brings back a familiar one also remains to be seen.
