Who is playing Abby in The Last of Us season 2?

At the time of writing, while Craig Mazin has confirmed that Abby has been cast, the name of the actress hasn’t been revealed.

Due to this mystery, many actresses’ names have been popping up as part of fan casts and casting speculations. According to reputed industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, two notable actresses from Hollywood were offered the part of Abby.

One notable name is Florence Pugh, who is currently on the rise in Hollywood after performing in a series of critically acclaimed films such as Midsommar, Little Women, and Oppenheimer. According to an unnamed source of MyTimeToShineHello, Pugh was offered the role of Abby prior to the beginning of the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes.

Another notable name is actress Shannon Berry, who is not only best known for her role of Emme in Gale Anne Hurd’s Hunters and Dot in Sarah Streicher’s The Wilds but also bears a striking resemblance to Abby’s facial model from The Last of Us 2 game.

According to another source of MyTimeToShineHello, Pugh has turned down the role of Abby, leading to the role being offered to Berry. Interestingly, Berry herself acknowledged her resemblance to Abby in a now-deleted tweet from 2020, where she said, “Ok I’ve seen too many people now say I look like Abby from The Last of Us and wow they’re kind of right.”

Other actresses whose names have been thrown into the mix for the role of Abby are Katy O’Brian, who recently played Jentorra in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Erin Kellyman, who played Karli Morgenthau/Flag-Smasher in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

All confirmed The Last of Us season 2 cast members

The Last of Us season 2 will bring back Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie respectively.

Fans can also expect Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley to reprise their roles of Tommy and Maria.

Merle Dandridge could also reprise her role of Marlene in possible flashbacks, given how the actress played Marlene in flashbacks of The Last of Us video game.
