Luther, the British psychological crime-drama series, finished its fifth season on 4 January 2019. The fifth season was followed by a feature-length film Luther: The Fallen Sun. Following the releases of Luther Season 5 and Luther: The Fallen Sun, however, fans are curious about the status of a sixth season and whether or not they will see Idris Elba as DCI John Luther back in action.

Is there a Luther Season 6 release date?
There is no release date for Luther Season 6 on BBC or Netflix, as the series ended after Luther Season 5 and Luther: The Fallen Sun.
While announcing Luther: The Fallen Sun in 2020, Luther creator Neil Cross confirmed that a sixth season would not happen. Thus, until there is any change in plan on the side of the creators, Luther: The Fallen Sun could serve as the last time fans see DCI John Luther in action.
The story of Luther focuses on John Luther, a detective who makes cases against criminals while also having a complicated relationship with a criminal and murderer, Alice Morgan.
Luther stars Idris Elba as DCI John Luther and Ruth Wilson as Alice Morgan. Other cast members of Luther include Michael Smiley as Benny Silver, Dermot Crowley as DSU Martin Shenk, Warren Brown as DS Justin Ripley, Nikki Amuka-Bird as DCI Erin Gray, and Indira Verma as Zoe Luther.
Where is Luther Season 6 coming out?
According to Neil Cross, Luther Season 6 will not come out on Netflix or BBC One as the series has ended after Luther Season 5 and Luther: The Fallen Sun.

“A dark psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba as Luther, a man struggling with his own terrible demons, who might be as dangerous as the depraved murderers he hunts.”
