Ahsoka Timeline: When Is It Set? Is It a Sequel or Prequel to Mandalorian?

With the upcoming Ahsoka series only a few weeks away, fans wonder where the show is set in the vast Star Wars timeline. Also, is it a sequel, prequel, or connected to The Mandalorian in any way? Here’s what you need to know.

When does Ahsoka take place?

Ahsoka takes place at the same time as The Mandalorian season 3, which is set in 11 ABY.

As revealed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo (who’s portraying Sabrine Wren) in an interview with SFX magazine (via GamesRadar), the Ahsoka series will run along the same timeline as the latest adventures of Din Djarin and the others. In fact, The Mandalorian helped set the Ahsoka series as Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan made her first live-action appearance in episode 5 of The Mandalorian season 2, “Chapter 13: The Jedi.” Ahsoka also appeared in The Book of Boba Fett, where she confronted Djarin about Grogu’s future as a Jedi. Roughly, The Mandalorian season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett take place seven years after the events of Return of the Jedi, which is set in 4 ABY.

Is Ahsoka a prequel or sequel to The Mandalorian?

Ahsoka isn’t a prequel or a sequel to The Mandalorian. Instead, it takes place alongside The Mandalorian.

The shows should take place at the same time. They’re both setting up an upcoming live-action movie directed by Dave Filoni, who also created the Ahsoka series with Jon Favreau.

Are Ahsoka and The Mandalorian connected?

Yes, Ahsoka and The Mandalorian are connected.

Both shows are part of a larger storyline culminating with the Filoni-directed movie. It wouldn’t be surprising to see familiar faces from The Mandalorian popping up on the Ahsoka show. Fans have to wait for the Disney Plus premiere on August 23 to find out more.
