Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an open world action-adventure game, structured around several main story quests and numerous optional side missions where the player takes on the role of Eivor, a Viking raider, as they lead their fellow Vikings against the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms in 873 CE. The player will have the choice of playing Eivor as either male (voiced by Magnus Bruun) or female (voiced by Cecilie Stenspil) and is able to customize Eivor’s hair, warpaint, clothing, armor, and tattoos.

The variety of weapons available to the player has been expanded to include weapons such as flails and greatswords, with combat also being changed to allow dual wielding of almost any weapon, including shields and every piece of gear that the player collects is unique. The Eagle Vision mechanic of previous titles will return in the form of “Odin Sight,” with the player’s companion animal being a raven named Synin, which is Old Norse for “insight,” and can be used to scout the nearby areas, much like previous avian companions had done in Origins and Odyssey, identifying foes and aspects of the game world from afar before Eivor engages in combat.

Players can also embark on more adventures with the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Season Pass. Included in the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector’s Editions, or available for purchase separately, the season pass includes The Legend of Beowulf Quest, Expansion 1 – Wrath of the Druids (Spring 2021), and Expansion 2 – The Siege of Paris (Summer 2021).

In addition, all players will have access to an extensive lineup of free seasonal content, including new narrative content and in-game events available after launch. Each season will last three months and will be accessible to all player types and levels of progression, focusing on gameplay, world evolution, and other exciting content.

Season 1 will launch in December and includes a new settlement area, allowing players to continue to grow and evolve their settlement, the Yule Festival, River Raids, the addition of the Ranks for Jomsviking, along with new player skills, abilities, weapons and gear, cosmetic items for their settlement, longship, horse, and raven.
