New Middle-earth RPG is in development
Developers of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Warhorse Studios, have confirmed that its next major project will take players back to Middle-earth. The dev team officially revealed that it is currently working on a new open-world role-playing game inspired by the fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien, ending months of speculation surrounding the studio’s future plans.
The announcement was made through the company’s social media platforms. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Warhorse wrote, “You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on. An open world Middle-earth RPG. A new Kingdom Come adventure.” The studio did not reveal story details, adding, “We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right.”
The announcement arrives as parent company Embracer Group moves forward with plans for Fellowship Entertainment, a new division focused on several of the company’s major entertainment properties. Embracer also stated that it plans to explore additional partnerships connected to franchises, including Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Saints Row, Red Faction, Thief, and TimeSplitters.

Warhorse has not yet revealed a release date or gameplay details for the new Middle-earth RPG. More information about the same is expected to be announced at a later stage.
