Kingdom Come: Deliverance II releases for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 later this year. In addition to revealing the release window, Warhorse Studios shared a first-look showcase of the upcoming realistic action RPG sequel. While an abbreviated version of the Kingdom Come II trailer leaked ahead of time, the extended reveal contained some new information.
Warhorse Studios gives an extended look at Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II takes players to the city of Kuttenberg during the early 1400s. Located in the modern Czech Republic, it was at the time an important city in the Kingdom of Bohemia within the Holy Roman Empire. Now a squire to his friend Sir Hans, protagonist Henry finds himself caught up in the affairs of kings. Players must also decide whether Henry becomes a gallant knight or a ruthless antihero on a quest for vengeance.
According to director Daniel Varva, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the kind of game Warhorse Studios wanted to make from the beginning but didn’t have the resources for. It is, therefore, much grander in scale, with a world map double the original game’s size. The sequel also has a much longer and more epic story. “This is a behemoth of a game compared to the first,” said voice actor Luke Dale, who voices Sir Hans.
The developers also discussed the game’s combat, world design, and reactivity, all of which contribute to its immersion. Deliverance II’s enemies should feel threatening, while Warhorse wants weapons to have a sense of weight. Players will also discover new weapons, such as crossbows and early firearms.
Meanwhile, NPCs will react realistically to the player’s actions and the reputation they build over Henry’s adventure. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II tries to avoid the stereotypes that paint medieval Europe as dirty, brown, and perpetually miserable. Instead, it presents a colorful world players will want to explore.
