Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Trailer Shows Return of Keanu Reeves’ Silverhand

Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC has been a long time coming and after many months of development, CD Projekt Red has released the debut trailer for its first expansion. This DLC will be called Phantom Liberty and is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Google Stadia in 2023.

The footage has V taking an oath to protect the New United States of America, something Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand claims was a bad idea. It is intercut with new areas, weapons, and scenes that will be in the expansion. All of these cuts were relatively quick, but this is still just labeled as a teaser. CD Projekt Red is also calling this a “spy thriller,” meaning there will undoubtedly be some political intrigue.

The developer also didn’t narrow down a month in 2023 and is dropping the PS4 and Xbox One, both of which were likely a result of its botched launch. Despite being delayed a few times, committing to its December 10, 2020 release date was catastrophic as was keeping a game this ambitious on last-gen platforms. These held the game back and caused a lot of problems for the Polish developer.

The latest 1.6 update (which is coming out later today and got its own trailer in the above stream) will also be the last big patch on the PS4 and Xbox One. They’ll get tech and stability updates now and again, but not content-focused ones.

This 1.6 update will have a quest and items from the Edgerunners anime like the protagonist’s jacket and another character’s shotgun, the Roach Race mini-game arcade cabinet (which will also be a separate free-to-play game on mobile later today), transmogging, some Ripperdoc additions for face and body resculpting, weapons, cross-platform progression, new Photo Mode changes, and much more, as detailed in the patch notes. Xbox Series S players will also get a new, fan-requested performance mode. Future updates will overhaul the police system, perk trees, melee combat, and the vehicular combat.

The team also announced Red Mod for PC players, which are tools that will help modders.
