Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Update Adds Voice Acting and Items

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Update Adds Voice Acting and Items

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was heavily criticized for its bare-bones presentation, which culminated with its lack of voice acting and items. However, Ludosity and Fair Play Labs have finally come through almost eight months later, as the newest patch adds both of these highly requested features.

The game’s official Twitter account announced the update, saying it was now live PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and even the Switch, which dropped shortly after the initial post stating that it was coming “soon” to the Nintendo platform.

While it didn’t go into detail with the new items, the developers did share the names of the actors that will be providing their voices for the game. Here’s a list of said actors and the ones in bold are people that have played the role before:

  • Shredder/CatDog (Cat): Jim Cummings
  • SpongeBob/CatDog (Dog): Tom Kenny
  • Patrick: Bill Fagerbakke
  • Sandy: Carolyn Lawrence
  • Oblina: Alex Cazares
  • Nigel Thornberry: Jim Meskimen
  • Zim: Richard Horvitz
  • Toph: Vivian Vencer
  • Aang: Dustin Sardella
  • Janet Varney: Korra
  • Reptar: Fred Tatasciore
  • Lincoln Loud: Bentley Griffin
  • Lucy Loud: Jessica DiCicco
  • Helga: Francesca Marie Smith
  • Michelangelo: Townsend Coleman
  • Leonardo: Cam Clarke
  • April O’Neil: Abby Trott
  • Garfield: Frank Welker
  • Ren & Stimpy: Billy West
  • Powdered Toast Man: David Kaye
  • Danny Phantom: David Kaufman
  • Jenny: Janice Kawaye

This update is coming at a good time since it is releasing one day before the game hits PlayStation Plus Essential, which will open the platform fighter up to a bigger audience.

The update also has its share of balance changes, which the game’s Twitter account also laid out in another tweet. It touches a handful of characters, as well as some stages and its general systems.

Voice acting had been teased in the past, as a developer in December posted in all caps that it heard some fan requests would be speaking about them soon. Given the emphasis on “hearing,” it was hard not to read it as a hint that voice acting would be coming to the silent brawler.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl also has more slated for this year, too. As was announced in May, Rocko, Hugh Neutron, and Jenny “XJ-9” Wakeman from My Life as a Teenage Robot were coming to the game as playable characters, with the latter character releasing that very same day.
