Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror Trailer Shows New Characters & Nasty Enemies

Back 4 Blood is just on the cusp of getting its first premium expansion on April 12. This piece of DLC called Tunnels of Terror has a bunch of new content for players, including two new characters, three additional Ridden, and a whole swath of cards and weapons. While Turtle Rock Studios has talked about some of these aspects, the new trailer shows most of these features in action.

Sharice, one of the expansion’s two characters, narrates the trailer. She’s an ex-firefighter that fittingly carries a fire axe as a melee weapon and gives her team consumable armor plates, a 25% trauma resistance, and 25% team bolstered health. She comes alongside Heng, an older fighter that can ping nearby hives, prepper stash doors, and nearby attachments. He also has a 5% chance to make accessories reusable and can possibly drop an item when he gets hit by a mutation.

The video mainly shows the duo going through a Ridden hive, which is a new cooperative activity. These dark, loot-filled, labyrinthine tunnels (this expansion has seven of them) are also the home to the new Warped Ridden. The Urchins set landmines, while the Shredders and Rippers deal damage in other ways Turtle Rock has not yet detailed. Players can play as these new Ridden (and the new humans, too) in the Swarm mode. Turtle Rock stated that they’re all earnable through progression, but didn’t specify if those who bought the DLC unlock them straight away.

The trailer also showcases the new weapons. One of which is an explosive hammer called The Tenderizer than has to be reloaded with every slam and another is an automatic, fire-breathing shotgun called Damnation. It even has a demon as an iron sight. There will seven total weapons and 12 weapon skins along with a batch of new cards.

Tunnels of Terror‘s launch comes with a free update for all players that adds the No Hope difficulty. As its title implies, it’s a harder setting that is only for very skilled players. It’s unclear if the update will have any other big features.

Back 4 Blood‘s roadmap is still far from over. Turtle Rock still has two more paid expansions coming, as well as other smaller updates. While its limits have yet to be fully tested, players should be able to play the DLC even if they don’t buy it as long as someone in their party has purchased it.
