Far Cry 6’s Stranger Things Crossover Mission Gets Release Date, Free Trial Coming Soon

Far Cry 6 has collaborated with Danny Trejo and the Rambo film series and now it’s about to merge with an outside source one last time. The Far Cry 6 Stranger Things crossover has finally gotten its release date as Ubisoft announced that players would be able to go into Yara’s version of the Upside-Down on March 24. Like the other missions, it will be free for all users.

Ubisoft described the quest as “stealth-horror-survival,” which sounds like something new for Far Cry, but seems fitting for Stranger Things. Players will be dragged into the “twisted version of Yara inspired by the Upside-Down” where the Yaran people have been disappearing. Chorizo, the wheelchair-bound dachshund, has been abducted, too, showing the monsters aren’t just snatching humans. This hellish location will also have a hidden bunker and abandoned lab in a similar fashion to the Netflix series. The teaser trailer Ubisoft released only shows a small glimpse of the area with some key art, but does fully reveal what the game’s Demogorgons will look like.

The mission will reward users with flamethrower and shotgun skins. These will likely be free and come alongside a premium bundle that will have more items from the show. There were Danny Trejo and Rambo bundles that sold for 1,500 Far Cry Credits, which is about $15.

This mission coincides with Far Cry 6‘s free weekend. Anyone on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC through the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store will be able to try the game for no cost from March 24 to March 27. These potential buyers can pre-load this hefty download on PC and PlayStation consoles on March 22 at noon PT. Progress will transfer over to the full game if users plan on buying it after the trial. The game will also be heavily discounted on all platforms during and just after the trial period.

The Stranger Things mission is the last piece of content on Far Cry 6‘s roadmap. It has received the three premium roguelite expansions, Blood Dragon “remaster,”  and aforementioned crossovers on that roadmap. The game might get some cosmetics down the line, but it seems as though Ubisoft might be moving on from the open-world shooter, as it hasn’t discussed plans for any additional DLC.
