According to the recent uncovering of a confidentiality agreement, it looks as if Nintendo is planning on releasing a brand new controller for the Nintendo Switch.

The product was recently submitted to the FCC (via Video Games Chronicle) and accompanied by various letters requesting confidentiality on its details. The item is simply named a “game controller,” with the letters of confidentiality requesting that any photos, manuals, block diagrams, and schematics for the item be kept secret for up to six months.

It’s unknown exactly if this means that the company is set to announce a new controller within those six months, but it does give the company a timeframe in which to potentially work on the controller and announce it. The FCC submission gives the controller the model name of HAC-043, which puts it right in line with other Nintendo Switch hardware that follows the “HAC” model structure. The latest controller to release for the console — the wireless SNES-themed device — was modeled HAC-042, which would make this unknown item the next in line.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has followed this procedure when it comes to new hardware. While this announcement might be a little bit more secretive, it will be interesting to see what type of new peripheral is coming to the console, and just what to expect from it when it does get announced.
