Mini-Review:

Over the years I’ve heard friends and co-workers discuss “Chappelle’s Show.” And anyone that follows entertainment news heard about Chappelle’s abrupt departure from the successful series. But despite the buzz and media, I had never seen a single episode of the show. This “Best Of” DVD was my first chance to see what it was all about.

Now having watched the DVD, I have to admit that it was pretty funny. Skits like “Clayton Bigsby: Blind White Supremacist” or “A Night With Wayne Brady” really cracked me up. I also finally got to see Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories. He tells bizarre stories from hanging out with his brother Eddie in the 80’s. His story about Rick James spawned the infamous catch phrase. I particularly enjoyed his story about playing basketball with Prince. Overall this is a great selection of skits, though some of them are significantly shorter in running time than others.

If you want to see the best of “Chappelle’s Show” for a reasonable price, this is the best option for you. And if, like me, you’ve never seen it before, you’ll probably find this to be infinitely more entertaining than other skit shows like “Saturday Night Live” or “MADtv.”
