Powered by first-week sales that Paramount says are at 1.2 million units, “Chappelle’s Show: Season 2 Uncensored” debuted at No. 1 on the preliminary national VideoScan First Alert video sales chart, beating Warner Home Video’s The Aviator.
“Chappelle’s Show: Season 2 Uncensored” also beat two other theatrical newcomers to the First Alert chart for the week ending May 29: the $82 million hit comedy Are We There Yet? from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Disney’s Pooh’s Heffalump Movie.
The Aviator did manage a first-place finish on Home Media Retailing’s national rental charts for the week ending May 29, with Are We There Yet? bowing at No. 2. The two films generated a combined total of more than $16 million in rental revenue for the week.
