Paramount Home Entertainment’s Shooter top both the national DVD sales and rental charts for the week ending July 1. The Mark Wahlberg-starrer grossed $47 million in theaters.
Lionsgate’s Pride bowed at No. 5, followed by Paramount’s Black Snake Moan at No. 6, Universal Studios’ Dead Silence at No. 7 and Buena Vista’s “Hannah Montana: Pop Star Profile” at No. 8.
The previous week’s top DVD seller, Buena Vista’s Bridge to Terabithia, slipped to No. 2, while 20th Century Fox’s Night at the Museum, in its 10th week on the chart, rose back to No. 3 from No. 9.
Shooter also took the top spot on Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart with estimated earnings of $7.8 million. Finishing at No. 2 was Black Snake Moan, which generated an estimated $6.2 million from rentals, or 66 percent of its theatrical gross.
The previous week’s top renter, Sony Pictures’ Ghost Rider, slipped to No. 3 after two weeks in the top spot. On First Alert, Ghost Rider faded to No. 4 from No. 2.
