April 12: This Week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD

April 12 brings home The Forest, Justice League vs. Teen Titans, Grace and Frankie and more!

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving this week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

The Natalie Dormer-led horror thriller The Forest kicks off a diverse week of titles, which also brings home last year’s French-Belgian thriller The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun and, debuting directly to home video April 12, the DC Comics animated feature Justice League vs. Teen Titans.

It continues to be a good week for horror fans as April 12 also offers Arrow Films‘ deluxe three-disc Blu-ray edition of 1989’s Bride of Re-Animator, a new Steelbook edition of last year’s indie hit, It Follows, and two great discs from Shout! Factory‘s Scream Factory imprint. They’ve got a fully-loaded special edition of John Carpenter’s 1995 remake of Village of the Damned as well as an Anthony Perkins double feature disc with both Destroyer and Edge of Sanity.

The Criterion Collection this week inducts Howard Hawks’ incredible 1939 adventure Only Angels Have Wings. Starring Cary Grant and Jean Arthur (as well as Rita Hayworth in a relatively early role), the film coincidentally gets an HD release the same week as Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book arrives in theaters. While the connection may be lost on some, fans of ’90s cartoons are likely to remember Disney’s Talespin cartoon, which featured versions of the Jungle Book‘s animated cast in a world heavily influenced by Hawks’ classic.

April 12 also represents a giant week for Warner Archive, beginning with the Blu-ray debut of Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion. Other MOD titles include four Robert Montgomery classics: 1936’s Piccadilly Jim, 1938’s The First Hundred Years and Yellow Jack and 1940’s Haunted Honeymoon. Also arriving on DVD are two Eleanor Parker films: 1954’s Valley of the Kings and 1957’s The Seventh Sin. As if that’s not enough, cinephiles can also now pick up from the Archive 1929’s The Man and the Moment, the 2009 documentary Cinema’s Exiles: From Hitler To Hollywood and a Bulldog Drummond Double Feature that includes both 1929’s Bulldog Drummond and 1951’s Calling Bulldog Drummond.

Small screen titles arriving April 12 include the recent event miniseries Heroes Reborn and, arriving on DVD only, the complete first season of Netflix’s acclaimed comedy drama Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Meanwhile, the ’90s sitcom Family Matters continues its sluggish releases. The sixth season arrives on DVD today, nearly six years after the DVD debut of season one.

Digital HD titles arriving this week include the Chloe Grace Moretz led sci-fi thriller The 5th Wave, the Natalie Portman western Jane Got a Gun, the Christmas horror comedy Krampus, and the Kevin Hart and Ice Cube buddy cop sequel Ride Along 2.
