October 13: This Week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD

Titles arriving October 13 include Tomorrowland, Aladdin, San Andreas, a massive Die Hard box set and lots more!

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top entertainment titles hitting this week on Blu-ray, DVD and streaming platforms. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue titles and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

Quite a few recent big screen releases kick off the week, including writer/director Rick Famuyiwa’s acclaimed indie feature Dope, the “found footage” horror tale The Gallows and the Dwayne Johnson-led disaster blockbuster San Andreas. October 13 also brings home Brad Bird’s family adventure Tomorrowland and, also from Walt Disney Pictures, a new Platinum edition of the animated classic Aladdin.

20th Century Fox has a major treat for Die Hard fans, offering up all five films from the blockbuster action franchise, housed within a miniature replica of the first film’s iconic Nakatomi Plaza.

When it comes to catalogue titles, October 13 also brings a 25th anniversary edition of Edward Scissorhands and a number of films debuting on Blu-ray for the first time in the United States. The list includes Peter Weir’s action thriller Witness (starring Harrison Ford), Escape From Alcatraz (starring Clint Eastwood), Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s marionette action-comedy Team America: World Police and the animated dinosaur adventure The Land Before Time.

The Criterion Collection this week offers up Ettore Scola’s 1977 Italian drama A Special Day, starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, while also prepping for Halloween with David Cronenberg’s The Brood.

October 13 also brings Halloween fun from some other distributors. Synapse Films has a Blu-ray special edition of legendary shlock title Manos: The Hands of Fate, while Kino Lorber offers up a comprehensive take on the 1925 Phantom of the Opera, starring Lon Chaney. Finally, Shout Factory’s Scream Factory brand delivers a special edition of 1971’s horror sequel The Return of Count Yorga.

There are quite a few small screen releases hitting October 13 as well, including the third seasons of A&E‘s Bates Motel, FOX’s Following and TruTV’s Impractical Jokers. There’s also the complete ten-episode limited series Wayward Pines (arriving on DVD only), the complete series of El Rey‘s Matador, starring Gabriel Luna, and the feature-length Cartoon Network special Regular Show: The Movie.

Three major box television box sets also arrive October 13 with the Complete Mad Men (the final season is also available separately), the Complete Justified, and a newly-restored special edition of Ken Burns’ Civil War.

Hitting Digital HD this week is the sports mockumentary Ferrell Takes the Field and a string of recent big screen releases, including Disney/Pixar’s animated adventure Inside Out, the story of a boy and his military-trained dog, Max, the boxing drama Southpaw (starring Jake Gyllenhaal), the comedy sequel/reboot Vacation, and the Olga Kurylenko and James Purefoy action film Momentum.
