Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story: What Happened to Jon Bon Jovi?

The trailer for the Hulu docuseries “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” was released on February 9, 2024, and offered a glimpse into the story of the American rock band that will be the center of the series. It also delves into the personal ups and downs faced by individual members of the band, mainly the band’s singer, Jon Bon Jovi, who underwent a major surgery in 2022 after a vocal cord injury. The four-part docuseries will be available to stream on Hulu starting April 26, 2024.

According to the Independent, Jon Bon Jovi explained his injury in Pasadena, California, at a panel to promote the Hulu docuseries. He said that one of his vocal cords was “literally atrophied.” He further simplified that vocal cords are meant to be parallel to each other, and if the vocal cords are supposed to be as thick as a thumb, one of his cords remained that way, and the other was much thinner, causing one to push the other aside.

Born as John Francis Bongiovi Jr., Jon Bon Jovi paired up with David Bryan, Bon Jovi’s lead keyboard player, to form an Atlantic City Expressway band. Also, they played music as a band in New Jersey in the early 1970s. In 1983, their song “Runaway” became popular on the radio. He then took the initiative to put together a band. That was how the iconic rock band Bon Jovi was formed. It went on to make a significant mark in the music industry and pop culture in general.

Jon Bon Jovi is currently on the road to recovery after vocal cord surgery

A “cutting-edge” implant was necessary to get his cords back in good condition. This was also so that he could return to singing the way he used to. He is still on his journey to recover from the surgery. Jon Bon Jovi said he was just glad to have his “tools” back.

Jon Bon Jovi performed live with Bruce Springsteen at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. It was to an audience of around 2000 odd members. This was on the Grammy Awards weekend. They performed “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” This was reportedly the first time since his surgery that he performed in public. It has been 19 and a half months since he started rehabilitation to get his voice back after the surgery. He was awarded the MusiCares Person of the Year for 2024. The award is given for achievements in music and his philanthropic efforts.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, Jon Bon Jovi is currently 61 years old. According to Fox News, the couple has been married for over 30 years and has four children.

When Jon Bon Jovi decided to put together a band in 1983, bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres, and a local guitarist named Richie Sambora joined Jon Bon Jovi. “Livin’ On A Prayer,” “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” are among the band’s most popular songs. They ultimately led them to fame through the 80s. All three songs are from one of Bon Jovi’s finest albums, “Slippery When Wet.”

Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story is a Hulu docu-series and will be released on the streaming platform on April 26, 2024. It comprises 4 episodes and reportedly includes footage from the band’s journey over the past few decades.
