DC Comics reveals a new Green Lantern costume design that can spark debate. The new costume was revealed in the latest issue of Superman: Father of Tomorrow #3. It comes a few weeks ahead of DC Studios showing its own take on the Green Lantern costume in the upcoming HBO Max show Lanterns.
What does Green Lantern’s new costume look like?
The costume in the new DC comic belongs to an unnamed Lantern, who is included in a new team of WildCATs assembled by General Lane. The costume looks like a heavily armored version of the regular Lantern uniform, complete with a new, see-through helmet and metallic chest pieces for protection. The WildCATs team includes the new Green Lantern, Void, Deathstroke, Zealot, Grifter, and GI Robot Mark II.
DC has debuted many different Green Lantern costumes in its comics over the years. Some of the most visually distinct Lanterns include Guy Gardner, Alan Scott, and Simon Baz. It remains to be seen who the new Green Lantern is in Father of Tomorrow. Whoever it may be, it’s notable that they are wearing an armored costume, considering that the Green Lantern Corps.’ uniforms are made out of energy from the power ring. The costumes themselves can be easily repaired through the power of the ring, suggesting that the new Lantern is up for some heavy duties in the coming issues.
Superman: Father of Tomorrow is written by Kenny Porter with art by Danny Earls. The new costume isn’t too far from the one teased in the Lanterns show. In one of its earlier trailers, fans can see Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan wearing a slightly more armored version of the suit. DC Studios has not revealed what Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart will look like suited up on screen.
Fans can look forward to watching more Green Lantern action on TV when Lanterns premieres on HBO Max on August 16, 2026. The eight-episode series will set the stage for John Stewart’s return in Man of Tomorrow.
