“A normal day for Obsidian CEO Leon Dorsey becomes horrific when his search for clean energy accidentally awakens an ancient, sludgey evil. Humanity’s last hope against a toxic future rests with a private group of commandos.”

Rise of the Sludge God is written by Michael Moreci (Stranger Things: Kamchatka, Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories) and features artwork by Alberto J. Albuquerque (Mystery Girl, Robert E. Howard’s Savage Sword) with letterer Nate Piekos (Stranger Things, Black Hammer: Visions). Interior artist Albuquerque also creates the wild cover art.

The game, a co-op shooter from the makers of World War Z and Evil Dead: The Game, sees players take control of one of the commandos, team up with their friends, and send the Sludge God and its horde of things-that-should-never-be back to the underworld. Players can choose the class that matches their playstyle, pile into their favorite ride, and unload an array of gunfire, grenades, special abilities, and freaking katanas as they save the planet.

Rise of the Sludge God will run for three issues and is set to begin in March 2024.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando video game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
