The upcoming historical romance C-drama The Princess Royal will premiere soon. It features popular actors Zhang Linghe and Zhao Jinmai in the lead roles. The drama tells the story of Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) and Pei Wen Xuan (Zhang Linghe), who marry each other at a very young age to fulfill their own necessities. They married for political reasons and are now stuck in a loveless marriage.
Li Rong starts to enjoy her own company, and Wen Xuan falls for someone else. In the end, they fall prey to conspiracies and turn against each other, which leads to their passing away. But in a peculiar turn of events, they wake up in the year they got married. Wen Xuan doesn’t want to go through the traumatic events once again and wishes to divorce Li Rong before it’s too late.

At the recently held 2024 Youku Spring Conference, the drama released a teaser trailer to give a glimpse of the much-anticipated drama. The trailer shows Li Rong being astonished after finding out that she is 18 again. Wen Xuan wishes to form an allegiance with her, but Li Rong is still not fond of him. She blames him for falling for his past lover, who caused their demise. Wen Xuan risks his own life to protect her from enemy attacks, provides her warmth when it is cold outside, carries her when she passes out, and even gets jealous when she starts getting close to someone else.
Li Rong realizes that she was used by the emperor as a pawn. She locks arms with Wen Xuan to protect the Xia kingdom. The former enemies make a promise to live and die together.
Other than the lead actors, the drama also features Chen Heyi, Liu Xuwei, Cheng Guo, He Qiu, Yu Jinwei, and others in pivotal roles. Go Yik Chun is the director of the drama.
